ABIGAIL WILLIAMS Working On New Album

April 16, 2010

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS has completed recording of individual performances for its as-yet-untitled second album. Captured at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, eight new songs were laid down with vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron and engineer Cole Martinez controlling the audio takes. The tracks are currently being mixed by Peter TÃĪgtgren (DIMMU BORGIR, IMMORTAL, CELTIC FROST) and are expected to be completed later this month.

Commenting briefly on the new material, Sorceron notes, "There is a lot less keyboards on the new songs. They are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways but still very ABIGAIL WILLIAMS-sounding.

"We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album; kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before.

"The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe."

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS is set to make its first trip to Australia in May, touring alongside NILE. This will be the first run of dates the band will play in 2010; the group was forced to cancel its planned month of American dates (also with NILE) earlier this year due to a performance-stopping injury within the band. The tour was planned to support the release of the limited/deluxe version of the band's popular 2008 debut, "In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns". Featuring five new/previously unreleased songs and the band's video for the song "Into the Ashes", the deluxe edition also featured all new artwork with a slip sleeve cover. Sorceron previously commented, "it is a pretty cool time capsule of new material to show what we have been creating since we originally recorded the album."

While the finishes touches are ongoing for the new album, Sorceron and drummer Ken Bedene are touring in Europe with ABORTED (Sorceron contributed to the band's latest album) while guitarist Ian Jekelis is keeping busy touring in the U.S. with GOD DETHRONED. "In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns" and the band's 2007 EP, "Legend", are available in stores now. Visit iTunes, Amazon and others for digital.
